Wildlife Photographer of the Year, Tring
The Veolia Environment Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition is at the Natural History Museum, Tring until 22nd January 2012. As I understand it the exhibition is the touring version of the one at the Natural History Museum in London. I have not been made aware of any differences * other than there is a charge (£9 / £4.50) for the London exhibition but no charge for Tring.
We went to Tring on 6th December 2011. The exhibition has around 100 prints of about 24" x 18" each. There are a couple of paragraphs and camera/exposure specifications by each image. They are hung double sided in two corridors on the top floor and around 12 winning images in a small room on the ground floor.
One picture, specially commended, Knot Lift Off, was by Thomas Hanahoe which we recently saw in a Biggleswade Camera Club exhibition.
The exhibition is worth seeing, I would expect every picture would get a top mark in a club competition.
Tring is popular with school parties; expect some noise. On the morning we went the "winning pictures" room was being used for school education. We could have gone in and viewed while this was going on but were discouraged by the noise. We went to town for coffee and returned later when it was empty; a good decision once we saw how small the room was. If it bothers you I would imagine weekends or after 3pm (or during school holidays) might be quieter as I would expect, by then, the school parties will have left.
There is a free car park at the museum and we parked with no problem otherwise some pay and display spaces are found 5 minutes walk away in town. The museum has a simple cafe but it was vending machines only when we went.

* Steve tells me he went to the London exhibition 2 years ago and each picture was presented with a stunning back light.
